Journaling

During these 7 days, focus your journaling on your boldness and the associated impacts to your daily activities. Please take particular care to capture the emotions, surprises, and new insights you experience and gain.

During these 7 days you may want to focus on the following topics:

  • How bold are you?

  • How bold should you be to accomplish your goals and objectives?

  • Where is the balance between boldness and foolishness?

  • Are you delegating the right tasks to the right people at the right time?

In your journal, identify the differences between your observed boldness and desired boldness so that you may begin closing the gaps.

Semi-Structured Conversations

Spend time with yourself (self-reflection) and a leader you consider especially bold. Prior to this conversation, observe the leader and document in your journal, boldness you see in their day-to-day actions. At the beginning of the conversation, summarize the philosophy of Courageous Leadership and the Courageous Characteristic of being bold from your own understanding. During the conversation, capture the findings in your journal. Questions might include:

  • Describe a leader you know who is bold. How does the leader show that he/she is bold?

  • When you get a great bold idea how do you evaluate it?

  • How have you developed boldness?

  • What do you do to counter fear and uneasiness so that you can boldly complete your task or mission?

  • Where is the balance between boldness and foolishness?

  • What is your secret to delegating the right task to the right person at the right time?

  • What suggestions do you have for helping me to develop boldness?

  • Do you have recommendations for books or other resources?

  • Do you have a recommendation for a bold leader that I should talk to?
