Journaling

During these 7 days, focus your journaling on your charisma and the associated impacts to your daily activities. Please take particular care to capture the emotions, surprises, and new insights you experience and gain.

During these 7 days you may want to focus on the following topics:

  • Think of a time that you worked with a leader who was unreasonable. Describe the leader’s character (i.e., was he/she a person of honor & integrity). What was the outcome?

  • How unreasonable are you? Do you consider yourself particularly unreasonable?

  • How unreasonable should you be to accomplish your goals & objectives?

  • Think of a situation where you were unreasonable. Did you use technical, cognitive and/or emotional intelligence?

In your journal, identify the differences between your observed unreasonableness and desired unreasonableness so that you may begin closing the gaps.

Semi-Structured Conversations

Spend time with yourself (self-reflection) and a leader you consider positively unreasonable. Prior to this conversation, observe the leader and document in your journal, unreasonableness you see in their day-to-day actions. At the beginning of the conversation, summarize the philosophy of Courageous Leadership and the Courageous Characteristic of being unreasonable from your own understanding. During the conversation, capture the findings in your journal. Questions might include:

  • Describe a leader you know who is unreasonable. Is he/she a person of honor & integrity? What actions, behaviors or attitudes reflect their unreasonableness? What was the outcome?

  • How do you know a situation warrants being positively unreasonable?

  • How unreasonable are you? Do you consider yourself particularly unreasonable?

  • How unreasonable should you be to accomplish your goals & objectives?

  • Think of a situation where you were unreasonable. Did you use technical, cognitive and/or emotional intelligence?

  • What suggestions do you have for helping me to develop unreasonableness? What has been helpful to you?

  • Do you have recommendations for books or other resources?

  • Do you have a recommendation for an Unreasonable Leader that I should talk to?
